R2S Reports on Law, Technology and Cognitive Science(s)
Starting in 2023 the FLL will once a year publish an open-access expert report on an issue related to interactions between law, empirical sciences, modern technologies or contemporary social phenomena. Reports will be written by teams of researchers and other experts networked with the FLL.
Forthcoming report:
Secure Digital Lending in European libraries
Comparative analysis of the current state of copyright law regarding the possibility for libraries to digitise and lend books under national and European law.
The study was conducted by Centrum Cyfrowe in partnership with the Future Law Lab flagship project within the Priority Research Area Society of the Future under the Strategic Programme Excellence Initiative at Jagiellonian University.
Centrum Cyfrowe Foundation supports users of digital technologies in improving their skills and competencies related to openness and cooperation. We collaborate with institutions to make sure that they work in an open manner in order to carry out their social mission. We work towards adjusting regulations and using legal tools to support the needs and rights of users, as they participate in the open circulation of resources online. We diagnose social and cultural changes that are taking place in our society with the influence of digital technologies, and we introduce a civic responsibility perspective to the public debate on technology.
Future Law Lab (FLL) is a virtual research centre at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, established under the Strategic Programme Excellence Initiative at Jagiellonian University.
The publication is issued as part of the Knowledge Rights 21 project, funded by Arcadia – a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin.
